A lotta times, photographers will ask me, “What camera should I get?”
That’s a question I can’t answer.
Only the photographer can decide what camera they’ll need to do the work they wanna do.
But at the very least, I can give ‘em a simple breakdown of the two most popular camera types.
Mirrorless cameras are smaller, lighter, and packed with modern features like real-time exposure previews, faster burst rates, advanced autofocus, and excellent video.
A mid-range mirrorless kit usually lessens our bank accounts by $900–$1200.
On the other hand, DSLRs offer optical viewfinders, longer battery life, and a tactile, balanced feel many photographers still love, and will lighten our wallet by about at $500–$800 with a comparable lens.
Budget matters, but it’s just part of the equation.
We also need a camera that feels good in our hands and has all the functions we need to be the photographers we wanna be.
After setting our budget, it’s about how we feel about our experience of working with the camera, so we can fluidly create meaningful, expressive, and unique photographs anytime, anywhere.
No matter what camera you choose to work with, I’ll help you become a better photographer.
