Understand photography and learn to create meaningful, expressive, and unique photographs anytime, anywhere.
Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Photography is part science, part craft, and part art, but we don’t need to understand the science to make engaging and compelling pictures.
So, what’s the important stuff we gotta learn?
In short, we gotta learn craft.
Craft includes understanding the relationship between camera operation, composition, and our ability to
observe and describe the characteristics of the light we’re seeing.
Craft is also how we take intention and understanding and turn that into actions that create photographs that intentionally communicate what we want to
communicate.
Learning craft means having an intentional, persistent, and consistent studies and practice.
When we do that, we stop guessing, start seeing, and start creating photographs that are meaningful, expressive, and unique.
When we become well-skilled craftspeople, we stop taking pictures and start making photographs.
With a skillfully applied foundation in craft, our work becomes something a viewer may consider art.
Work with me, and I’ll help you learn the craft of photography—so you’ll understand photography and learn to create meaningful, expressive, and unique photographs anytime, anywhere.
