Sometimes, we might find ourselves thinking, “If only I had a better camera, I’d be a better photographer.”
 

Remember that no matter how good the camera is, if we don’t know what we’re doing with it, it won’t help us with anything.

Also, remember that the photographer makes the picture, not the camera.

It doesn’t matter what kind of camera we have, whether it's a complex camera like a mirror camera, a DSLR, or the camera on our phone.

As long as we use any one of those intentionally, thoughtfully, and with an understanding of photography, we can make an excellent picture with any camera.
 

The equipment doesn’t matter as much as how we use it because all cameras are nothing more than light recording tools.

Although ergonomics and complexity may vary, the foundations of composition related to camera operation are always there.

ISO, aperture, shutter speed, focusing modes and areas, metering patterns, and metering modes.
 

When we know how to use those camera functions, and tie them into our intended composition and the light we're seeing, we can make a good picture with any camera:

Study and practice intentionally to learn about camera operation, composition, and light interplay.

A note about group class sizes: Did you know that some places that teach photography have up to 25 students in each class? 

Bigger ain't always better.

That's why I limit my group classes to no more than five participants because smaller classes make for better, more effective, and more efficient learning experiences.
