Special Notice(s)
(My email to keep you thinking about your studies and practice is below any special notices)
Kick off the new
year by becoming a better photographer. The Photography Basics/Introduction to Photography classes start in early January. (or you could do it as a series of Private Lessons.)
And don’t forget that a gift certificate for photography instruction makes an excellent gift for a photographer.
End of the Special Notice(s)
————————
We usually feel one of two ways when we’re making photographs: confident
and clear, or frustrated and confused.
Working with confidence and clarity is a better way to work, and that comes from understanding photography.
Wouldn’t it be great to feel confident and clear every time we pick up our camera?
Here’s what gets in our way: most of us feel frustrated and confused because we don’t understand the
relationship between camera operation, composition, and light.
And when we don’t understand what we’re doing, we're not happy with the work we do because our pictures don’t communicate what we want them to.
At some point, we all start from the same place: not understanding.
If photography isn’t working for us because it feels frustrating and we’re unconfident, we're usually unsure whether it’s our gear or if we simply lack
creativity.
It’s neither of those because it’s that we lack understanding.
But once we realize that
our confidence and clarity as photographers come from creating a process that’s rooted in understanding the basics of photography, we can make an effort to develop a method of studying and practicing that works for us.
And in order to do
that, we could use the equipment we already have.
And once we know how to use the equipment we already have, we can intentionally make the pictures we want every time.
Once we know how to use the tools we already have, we’re free to make the pictures we want, on purpose, every time.
That’s where the Photography Basics/Introduction to Photography class comes in: participants learn exactly how to replace confusion and frustration with clarity and confidence by choosing a thoughtful, intentional photographic process grounded in understanding.
Photographers I work with who once worked in a place of confusion and frustration start working with confidence and finally make the kinds of pictures they’ve always wanted—without buying new equipment.
Ready to stop guessing and start making photographs you’re happy with? Sign up for the class or reach out with any questions.
When we show up, study, and practice, we’ll walk away with skills we can use for a lifetime.
And if you’re not sure which class fits your needs, just ask—I’m always happy to help.
