The reasons we make photographs vary.
 

Although all photographs are recordings of a moment, what that moment represents to us is personally meaningful.

We can photograph family and friends, so the picture triggers a memory of that moment we spent with them.

Some of us want to express ourselves; we wanna show people how we think about the world we see.

Some actively study and practice photography, learning about camera operation, composition, and light to improve their craft.

Some photographers wanna share their work with friends and family as a print on a wall or on social media.

Some of us make photographs because it slows us down and forces us to pay attention and to be present in the moment; in a way, it’s a form of meditation
 

It’s also a way to explore people and places or to become more familiar with what we’re already familiar with.

And sometimes it’s just for the enjoyment of photography.
 

It’s rarely for just one of those reasons.

But the bottom line is that we make pictures because they change how we see, and when we change how we see, it changes how we live and experience the world.

When we improve our photography, we improve all of the above.

A note about group class sizes: Did you know that some places that teach photography have up to 25 students in each class? 

Bigger ain't always better.

That's why I limit my group classes to no more than five participants because smaller classes make for better, more effective, and more efficient learning experiences.

But smaller classes also mean spots fill up quicker, so sign up soon.
