Maybe we understand photography, and because of that, we’re really good photographers.

Working in manual exposure mode, we’re intentional photographers.

Doing everything we can do to make the pictures we want; we’re involved in metering, picking our aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to get the tonality we want, and the other elements of composition we want as well as focusing to make something specific sharp.

We have no problem doing all this because we know we make the best pictures we can considering the light we’re working with, and we refuse to settle for less than the best we can do.
 

On the other hand, maybe we don’t understand photography, and we’re not the best photographers we could be.

In that case, we’re probably working our cameras in automatic exposure mode.

And although we’re getting a picture, oftentimes it’s not the one we want.

Regardless of how we’re working, whether in an automatic exposure mode or a manual exposure mode, we’re doing the best we can.

The job of a photographer is to make the best picture they can with whatever light they’re working with.

Trusting our camera to make the picture for us in automatic exposure mode is one thing, but making a picture in manual exposure mode is another.

Trusting our camera to make the picture for us is settling for less.

But why settle for less when we could settle for better by learning to make pictures in manual exposure mode?

It’s not as difficult as we think.

A note about group class sizes: Did you know that some places that teach photography have up to 25 students in each class? 

Bigger ain't always better.

That's why I limit my group classes to no more than five participants because smaller classes make for better, more effective, and more efficient learning experiences.

But smaller classes also mean spots fill up quicker, so sign up soon.
