Our creativity is limitless and boundless.
However, as photographers, we work with limitations and boundaries, and it's essential to know them.
Our cameras and lenses are limited in terms of functionality.
The light we work with has limitations.
We create boundaries of what we wanna photograph.
Our understanding of camera operation, composition, and light may be limited.
If that's the case, we don't understand how to work within the limitations and boundaries we encounter while making
pictures, and that keeps us from making the best photographs possible.
At some point, most of us want to understand how to use our cameras efficiently, effectively, and intentionally so we can create the best pictures possible.
To create the best pictures possible, we need to improve our understanding of camera operation, composition, and light.
And that requires intentional studies and practice.
Our studies and practice are the way to
teach us to operate our cameras confidently to create the best compositions possible, given the light we're working with.
Ultimately, we're responsible for the work we create.
We can depend on our cameras to take photographs for us in automatic exposure mode, or we can be entirely responsible for the pictures we make by working in manual exposure mode.
The encouraging news is that one of our options is to be responsible for every aspect of our photograph.
When we're responsible for every aspect of our photograph, we can be far more creative than we can imagine because we understand how to work with the limitations and boundaries inherent in our work.
