The photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson says, "Your first 10,000 photographs are
your worst".
That's a lotta pictures.
But we can cut that number way back and here's why I'm confident in that statement.
I've been a photographer for as long as I can remember; I've been a professional photographer
since the mid-1980s.
I've been teaching photography professionally since 1999.
I know what it takes to become a better photographer, and once we commit, It's easier than we think.
In short, it takes a strategic, consistent, and persistent study and practice involving camera operation, composition, and light.
As I mentioned, we can substantially reduce the number of our "worst" photographs.
It takes work, but if I can do it,
anyone can.
Here's how it gets done.
As soon as we get frustrated enough with our misunderstanding of photography and decide to begin learning about the relationships between camera operation, composition, and light, we change our mind and approach to making pictures, which results in a change for the better of our images.
I can't give a number on when you'll think you've reached the limit of your "worst" photographs, but I can tell you that as soon as we decide to learn photography, we'll start to see improvement.
How fast we improve is directly related to the intent and frequency of our studies and practice.
There's no doubt that learning photography takes
work, and I'm here to help you with your work to be a better photographer and when someone works with me, they've got to do their work because if they didn't, there'd be no point to mine.
Registering for my Introduction to Photography class is an excellent way for us to work together.
