I'll use two of the most highly respected and established camera brands as
examples to keep things simple.
Nikon got started on July 25, 1917.
Canon followed on August 10, 1937.
There's a lotta busy people in both these organizations, doing their best to ensure that they live up to their
current corporate slogans.
While Canon is "Delighting You Always," we'll find "Nikon is Everywhere."
In a nutshell, the slogans tell me that Canon is customer-centric while Nikon is camera-centric. (Although, as a professional photographer, the NPS (Nikon Professional Services) had my back plenty of times.).
Canon's current slogan emphasizes ensuring a positive experience with its products and services and dedicating itself to exceeding customer expectations.
Nikon's current slogan emphasizes its global presence and the widespread use of its products worldwide.
Furthermore, the slogan suggests that Nikon cameras and imaging products are trusted for
their quality and reliability because photographers and videographers work with them in a wide variety of situations and environments.
Of course, based on our work, a camera's functional features are an important consideration when
choosing a camera.
But except for a few specialized differences in camera functionality and ergonomics, there isn't much variance in what cameras do and how they work.
It's better to get to know the corporations we're buying our cameras from by understanding their slogans and learning about their corporate history and philosophy.
We should buy from a manufacturer that shares our interests, as reflected in its slogan, corporate history, and philosophy.
When we do this, we buy our camera from a company that has our interests in mind because their interests are in our interests.
