Hello, .
What's the Best Camera for Learning Photography?
Drumroll, please!
It's whatever one we have.
It's not about the camera.
Instead, it's about how we think about using it.
In other words, the camera doesn't make the picture; we, the photographers, create them.
Simply put, cameras are light recording tools, and photographers use
cameras to make photographs.
Let's be clear: the best photographers rely more on their minds than their cameras to create compelling pictures that get and hold the viewer's attention.
In other words, we need to learn to use the tool effectively to control the elements of our composition to communicate intentionally.
And we do that by learning to work the camera thoughtfully to achieve a composition that best reflects our communication intent.
Put another way, we use our minds to solidify our intent of communication, visualize the picture in our mind, and then utilize the camera controls to get the visual outcomes that best communicate our goal of the composition.
When we struggle with that because we don't understand how to best use the tool we're working with, our work will be diminished.
If you need help with this I have some classes or private lessons to help you be a better
photographer by helping you understand camera operation, light, and composition.
And remember, it doesn't matter what camera we use.
What really matters is how we think about using it.
But suppose you're feeling ambitious and have a DSLR or other camera allowing manual exposure.
If that's the case, we'll want to learn to use that camera to its full advantage in manual exposure mode.
If so, an Introduction to Photography class
covering the use of manual exposure mode in detail will start soon.
Take a group class or private lesson with me.
I've got Introduction to Photography classes scheduled and remember that any of my classes can be taken as a single private lessons or a series of private lessons, so don't
