Hello, .
If you've ever asked yourself that question, let me tell you what I think.
Photography ain't difficult.
Photography is relatively easy.
Photography is a straightforward process.
We see something that makes us want to take a photograph.
We take out our camera.
We compose and make a picture.
And if we're unsure of ourselves, we probably make more pictures of the same thing.
But how could such a simple thing seem so difficult?
It may seem that photography is difficult, but something else is causing us difficulties.
It's not photography; it's the camera.
If we used a point-and-shoot camera, photography would be much easier.
But a more complex camera will help us become better photographers.
But it doesn't.
Not because it can't.
It doesn't because we don't know how to work the camera, so we keep using it like a point-and-shoot.
Or we can begin using the camera's more complex features, but we need to do so more effectively.
If we learn to work with the camera with understanding and intent, we can make better pictures because we've become better
photographers.
We become better photographers because we understand the cause and effect of camera operation and light on our compositions and can see how simple photography is.
