Hello, .
Creativity: either we got it, or we don't.
Have you heard that phrase?
Please, don't you believe it for a second!
Because when we buy
into it, we diminish ourselves.
We're all creative, but we express our creativity in different ways.
We all "got it."
Let's not buy into the idea that creativity is something we have or don't
have.
Because creativity ain't a rare gift bestowed upon a lucky few; it's something we all have.
So, let's acknowledge that creativity is an innate characteristic of who we are.
We express our creativity
in unique ways in our everyday activities.
The way we talk, move, do our jobs, etc.
However, since we don't view our run-of-the-mill everyday activities as creative, we look for additional creative outlets beyond our usual day-to-day creativity, which we don't recognize as creative expression.
And like you and I, many of us use photography to express our creativity.
But sometimes, we feel we're not expressing ourselves
confidently and effectively as photographers.
Usually, many of us feel less confident in our creative expression, especially in complex crafts and means of creative expression like photography.
But remember, you're in a lot of good company regarding this feeling.
That's when it's helpful to start cultivating our creativity with a camera through intentional study and practice.
This means dedicating time to learning about camera operation,
composition, and light and then applying what we learned in practice.
It's about being deliberate and focused in our learning and application.
Study and practice should include:
- Learning to operate the tool we use (camera operation).
- Observing and working with our raw material (light).
- Intentional visual expression
(composition).
The Introduction to Photography class will
engage your creativity through deliberate, focused studies and practice.
