Hello, .
When we begin learning photography, we usually try to learn to operate our camera.
We learn about exposure, metering, focusing, aperture, shutter speed, ISO,
etc.
And although we're operating a camera, we're using the camera to record light with the same intent a writer uses a pen to record words.
And that intent is to communicate facts or fiction.
A writing implement is a tool writers use to communicate fact or fiction intentionally.
A camera is a tool photographers use to communicate fact or fiction intentionally.
Writers use words, and we (photographers) use light.
When writers learn to distill and communicate their thoughts and feelings through the tip of a pen, we get wonderfully unique literature.
When we (photographers) learn to distill and communicate our thoughts and
feelings through our camera, we get wonderfully unique photographs.
Remember, the word photography's Greek origin means writing or communicating with light.
When we understand we use a camera like a writer uses a pen, we’ll figure out that the camera is a complex tool to communicate how we uniquely think and feel about what we see.
We
only need to learn how to work our camera effectively, and that’s what the Introduction to Photographyclasses, which start soon, will get you doing.
More classes are below.
Do you need to learn to use your camera or brush up on some skills and techniques, especially if you want to be ready to take pictures and record those holiday moments?
I've scheduled Introduction to Photography and Getting to Know Your Camera classes.
Since class sizes are limited to five participants, it's a good idea to reserve your spot as
soon as possible.
If you need a different schedule, there's always Private Lessons.
Below are more ways to learn photography with me.
The Introduction to Photography class or a series of Private Lessons will help you study and practice to become a
