Hello, .
I'm not a mind reader, but I can imagine your thoughts.
How can photography be like driving?
How are cameras like cars?
But buckle up, keep an open mind, and let's take a trip to examine the parallels between driving and photography.
It'll be a short trip.
Here we go.
Driving is a skill that can be learned.
We can become familiar with a specific car and then apply our driving skills to operate it.
Although the car we apply our driving skills to may change, once we figure out where and how to use the things we find in all cars, like the ignition,
acceleration, brake controls, headlights, windshield wipers, etc., our driving skills allow us to get where we're going.
Once we have the skill and understanding of what we do as drivers and are familiar with what all cars do, any car will do.
And then, we can confidently drive it to wherever we wanna go.
The same goes for our skills as photographers and whatever cameras we use.
As analogies, our understanding of photography, camera operation, and light is like driving, and our cameras are like specific cars.
Although the camera we apply our photography skills to may change, once we figure out where and how to use the exposure modes, focusing modes, metering
modes, etc., our photography skills allow us to get the best pictures possible.
Once we have the skill and understanding of what we do as photographers and are familiar with what all cameras do, any camera will do.
In other
words, once we understand how to make pictures with one camera, any camera will be our creative vehicle.
I'm starting an Introduction To Photography class soon that'll improve your photography skills and get you using your camera like a skilled driver uses their car on the Autobahn.
Ready to take your photography skills to the next level and become a better photographer?
Making pictures in manual
exposure mode is the best way to do that, and the best way to learn to work in manual exposure mode is through the Introduction To Photography class.
The Introduction To Photography class equips you to become a more confident photographer who understands how to use their camera to compose the best pictures possible while working with whatever light you have to work with.
