Hello, .
Thoughts of whether our photographs are good or if we are good photographers aren't helpful.
What's considered 'good' in photography is often a personal judgment, such as 'I like ' or 'I don't like '.
When evaluating our work or ourselves as photographers, the most qualified judge is often ourselves.
This self-evaluation can be a powerful tool for growth and improvement.
Here's a suggestion.
Stop making pictures to be a good photographer that produces good photographs.
Instead, study and practice to be an effective photographer that produces compelling photographs.
Effective is a
more helpful word than "good."
What we do with our cameras affects the outcome of our photographs.
Questioning whether we produced the intended effect is much more helpful than asking if our photograph "is good or if we are "good" photographers.
Remember, good work often demonstrates a photographer's technical competency, but that's about as far as it goes; conversely, compelling work strongly and irresistibly evokes interest, attention, or admiration.
The Introduction to Photography class will teach you how to be
an effective photographer who produces compelling pictures by providing you with a solid understanding of camera operation, competition, and light.
