Hello, .
One of the most important things we can do to improve our photography is our daily studies and practice.
Whether someone takes a group class or private lesson(s) with me, I remind the photographers I work with that any skills and techniques they learn while working with me must be consistently practiced.
And what I mean by consistently practicing is practicing daily.
But it doesn't take a lotta time each day to be better than 95%of the photographers in the world.
In fact, according to the book 18 Minutes: Find Your Focus, Master Distraction, and Get the Right Things Done by Peter Bregma, all it would take to excel at any skill, including photography, is 18 minutes a day for a year.
After working with me to learn what you'd wanna know, just 18 minutes a day for a year practicing the skills and techniques you learned with me would make you better at photography than 95% of the photographers out there.
If you work with me, I'll give ya plenty of stuff to practice with.
All you'd need to do is set aside 18 minutes a day, and after a year, or 109.5 hours of studying and practicing photography, you'd be better than most photographers.
Nothing beats a consistent
daily practice to improve our work.
And that's why I advise the photographers I work with in my classes to make at least one picture daily by applying what was covered during our lesson(s).
This suggestion helps us become
better photographers by consistently keeping our studies and practice relevant to us.
Our daily studies and practice must include camera operation, composition, and the observance and description of light.
It doesn't
need to take long.
And the process is simple and purposeful.
When you see something that gets your attention, take out whatever camera you have with you, be thoughtful about creating your composition, make the best picture you can, and then critique it.
The point is to make pictures because that's what photographers do.
And that's where our studies and practice come in.
When you study and practice photography with me, I'll do my job to
teach you skills and techniques.
All you've gotta do is your part by studying and practicing for 18 minutes a day.
I've scheduled group classes, and private lessons are always an option.
I'll help you be a better photographer—study and practice photography with me.
Current ways to work with me, including group classes and private lessons, are below.
Smaller group classes mean better learning, so class
sizes are limited to 5 participants plus me.
But smaller classes also mean spots fill up quicker, so sign up soon.
And what if the timing doesn't work for you in any of my scheduled group classes? Private in-person or online lessons suited to your schedule are always an option.
And remember, we learn and improve by doing, so practice making at least one picture daily.
That's all for now; thanks for reading!
