If you'd like to understand how to use your camera to make better pictures, it'll take about two and a half hours. 

The group Introduction To Photography class is ten hours long and spread across four meetings of two and a half hours each. 

Sometimes, the meetings go longer and sometimes shorter, depending on the number of people in the class and how long it takes everyone to get comfortable with the primary technique(s) covered during the meeting so they can study and practice it for homework.

During the first two-and-a-half-hour meeting, we'll switch from working in fully automatic exposure mode and controlling nothing to working in manual exposure mode and controlling everything. 

And when it comes to working our cameras to get the compositions we want, unlike most times when being a control freak isn't a good thing, being a control freak ain't bad.

When we understand how camera operation affects composition, we can control our cameras to achieve the compositions we want. 

Although I'm a big fan of manual exposure mode, other modes can get us more involved in photography. 

Aperture and shutter priority modes give us more camera functionality and expand our studies and practice in ways that'll get us much more involved in creating pictures than fully automatic exposure mode ever can. 

That's where the Getting To Know Your Camera class fits the bill.

There's only two spots left in the Introduction To Photography class that starts on Sunday, April 14. 

The Introduction To Photography class will get you more involved in photography by learning how to work your camera in manual exposure mode. You'll get a good foundation in the basics of photography while learning reliable creative techniques. Classes are scheduled to start April 14. 

Smaller classes mean better learning, so class sizes are limited to 5 participants plus me.

But smaller classes also mean spots fill up quicker. 

Private in-person or online lessons suited to your schedule are always an option. 

And remember, we learn and improve by doing, so practice making at least one picture daily.
