Our camera has some important features.

Our cameras are important because they're the light-tight boxes that house the light-sensitive material that records our exposure. 

It also contains a shutter that covers the light-sensitive material before we make an exposure, which is the time element of exposure. The camera also includes the camera meter, which measures the light intensity of the light we photograph.

The digital sensor or film inside the camera because it's the light-sensitive material that records the light. 

The viewfinder because it helps us frame our picture, meter, view the exposure indicator, and allows us to see how we're focusing. 

The LCD screen allows us to view a picture and its settings.

There's more stuff happening in the camera, but that stuff has more to do with camera functions.  

The lens is important because it provides an angle of view for our picture and focuses light onto the light-sensitive material in the camera body. The lens also contains the aperture, which provides the second part of our aperture, also called f-stop.

All the above things are important, and none is more important than the others because they're all tools we use to create pictures. 

But there's something much more important than our camera and lens.

The most important part of our photography is understanding how to create the best pictures we can using whatever camera we have. 

If you've got a DSLR or mirrorless camera, my Introduction To Photography class can help you do that. 

The Introduction To Photography class will get you more involved in photography by learning how to work your camera in manual exposure mode. You'll get a good foundation in the basics of photography while learning reliable creative techniques. Classes are scheduled to start on March 25, March 27 and April 14. 

Smaller classes mean better learning, so class sizes are limited to 5 participants plus me.

But smaller classes also mean spots fill up quicker. 

Private in-person or online lessons suited to your schedule are always an option. 

And remember, we learn and improve by doing, so practice making at least one picture daily.
