One of the things I learned during my studies and practice is how to make the best possible pictures. 

My best teachers never said I'd be able to get the pictures I wanted; instead, they taught me how to make the best possible pictures and what I should want is that.   

They made it clear that creating compelling photography doesn't consider rules of composition, tips, tricks, generalizations, or hacks. 

Compelling photography arises spontaneously out of the constant flux of what we experience. 

And when that spontaneous impulse to make a photograph happens, photographers would do well if they knew and understood photography. 

Knowing and understanding photography means we know and understand camera operation, light, and composition.  

What we get from understanding camera operation, composition, and light is technique. 

And the technique is in the service of creativity.

And ain't that what we do? 

As photographers, we create photographs but must know photography to make the best possible pictures. 

And more specifically, we've got to know our photography. 

Because in knowing our photography, we understand what techniques to use to create the best possible pictures. 

If you want to learn to work your camera in a way that'll provide the most creative technique available, the Introduction To Photography group class is the way to go. We can also do it as a series of in-person or online private lessons to suit your schedule. 

Smaller classes mean better learning, so no more than five participants and me are in each class. 

But smaller classes also mean spots fill up quicker. 

And remember, we learn and improve by doing, so practice making at least one picture daily.
