What kind of camera do we need to make it feel like we're the best photographers we can be?

We see a lot people with cameras; some use their phones, some use complex cameras like higher-end DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, and others use everything in between.

Are the ones using higher-end, complex cameras having more fun? Are they more involved in the work they're doing?

Are better cameras making those using them better photographers?

It's easy to imagine that a technically better camera that makes technically better pictures makes us better photographers skillfully and creatively.  

Compared to the cameras on our phones, there's no doubt that the technical specs of more complex cameras give us better files and more creative options.

But better cameras aren't the same as better photographers.

Making an interesting picture with a camera on our phone can be as rewarding as making a good picture on a more complex camera.

If we feel that the camera matters when making pictures we're happy with, we've made photography more about a camera than being better photographers.

What makes us feel like better photographers is understanding what to do with our cameras to make the best pictures possible.

In other words, it's not about the camera; It's about understanding how to use whatever camera we've got.

Any of my classes will help you be a better photographer, but the Introduction To Photography  class is the only one that'll get you working in manual exposure mode. 

It's available as a group class and as an in-person or online series of lessons that allow for scheduling flexibility.

Smaller classes mean better learning, so no more than five participants and me are in each class. 

But smaller classes also mean spots fill up quicker. 

And remember, we learn and improve by doing, so practice making at least one picture daily.
