Hello ,
I was told I'm old school and a purist when it comes to
photography.
It couldn't have been the camera I was using.
It was the one on my phone and it can't get much more new school than
that.
It was the question they asked and my answer to it that got me those descriptions.
What filters and scene mode was I using was the
question and my answer was none.
Specifcally, my camera setting are always; HDR off, Photo mode, no filter effects (original). Any auto-focusing, including facial recognition is off and the aspect ration is 4:3. Every once in a while I'll use the flash.
I also have an app called Halide installed that'll allow me to control, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and focusing.
But I'm usualy too lazy to use it except as a demonstration during a
class.
I don't know about you, but I don't think any of the stuff I just rattled off sounds old school in terms of new camera technology.
What I'll agree with is my approach.
I'm not keepin' it old school. I'm keepin' it simple, unprocessed, and controling the outcome of the picture.
If we're learning photograhy that's the way I'd recommend
because it's the easiest and most reliable way to learn photography and the compositional outcomes of camera operation.
Also,
if we're using any other types of cameras, like a DSLR or mirrorless camera, I recommend working in aperture and shutter priority modes or better yet, fully manual exposure mode.
And the Introduction To Photography will get you doin' that.
If you need help with your studies and practice, you know where to find me and there's more classes below.
And remember, we learn and improve by doing, so practice making at least one picture today.
That's all for now; thanks for reading!
Sam
I'll help you be a better photographer—study and practice photography with me.
And what if the timing doesn't work for you in any of my scheduled group classes? If that's the case, let's schedule a one-time lesson or a series of in-person or online private instruction that covers the same things as my group classes.
Ways to work with me are listed below.
