You'll find the
photography-related stuff after I unabashedly ask you to do one more thing during your busy day.
I'm not a politician, but I'm asking for your vote!
And I promise, regardless of who wins, I won't question the outcome, ask for a re-vote, storm the offices of the Washington City Paper, or try to overthrow their management.
So click the green, square "Best of DC 2023" graphic and vote for the Sam D'Amico Photography Classes in the Washington City Paper's Best Art Class category.
Thank you.
Hello ,
We tend not to feel inspired to photograph the seemingly ordinary things we see daily.
We tend to overlook the
ordinary in search of something extraordinary.
If we take a moment and look closer at the ordinary, we'll see something extraordinary.
It helps when we look at the ordinary more closely and with the eyes and mind of a photographer.
When we notice the texture, shape, colors, and context in which whatever we see exists, we'll see the ordinary as extraordinary.
And when we see something extraordinary in the ordinary, it's a good idea to make a photograph of the way we see it and think about it.
And the best part is we can use whatever camera we have.
Whether we use the camera on our phone or a camera that allows for more camera operation and
composition choices doesn't matter.
We can do this with anything, anytime, anywhere.
Incorporating this activity thoughtfully into our photography studies and practicing raises our visual awareness and vocabulary, increases our photography and camera operation skills, and allows us to find visual inspiration in whatever we see.
Of course, the more understanding of our craft (photography and camera operation), the better our pictures will be.
Classes are below.
