Hello ,
I was wondering what the most used cameras were.
So like any other curious person, I searched the interwebs and found something.
And while I can't vouch for the accuracy, I can vouch for the level of detail of the information.
The list used pictures uploaded to Fiicker and the related EXIF data from a recent date.
Automatically generated lists are made by periodic sampling of the EXIF data of recent uploads.
And finally, ranking is determined by the number of photos each camera model creates.
Model names come directly from the EXIF data.
The lists are updated every Monday.
There are two lists.
The first list covers the top models used.
The second list covers the top manufacturers used.
Both lists are ranked from one to one hundred.
The list I used was created on 4/10/2023
Got it?
The top three cameras used are Apple iPhones, which hold all the spots until 12.
A mirrorless camera
shows up in 12th place.
A DSLR doesn't show up until spot number 16.
The top three manufacturers in order of their topness are Apple, Cannon, and Nikon.
Here's my takeaway.
Camera phones are the most used, but since Cannon and Nikon are the manufacturers ranked as two and three, it seems that a good chunk of all those pictures is made with mirrorless and DSLR cameras.
I'm guessing that the photographers using mirrorless and DSLR camera care about image quality and size. Not to mention the availability of more creative controls.
Whatever camera we use, our job as photographers is to make the best pictures we can with whatever camera we use and our understanding of photography.
My job as a photography teacher is to help you to be the best photographer you can be.
I've
got some classes scheduled.
