Greetings and a Catch-up
Hello ,
I hope that you're doing well and making photographs.
I've been hearing/reading conversations lately that are making arguments about whether it's better to make pictures with a film camera or a digital camera if we want to learn photography.
The truth of the matter is, beyond capture/recording and processing preferences, using one over the other as a way to learn doesn't really matter.
From my perspective as a teacher and a photographer who has experience with film and digital processes, I think that The process of learning varies greatly between the two. But again it comes down to preference.
I'll probably do a future blog post about this. And for what it's worth, I definitely prefer digital when it comes to teaching/learning.
Please, send me an email and suggest some new photography-related stuff that you'd like me to write about. I'll make a blog post and then post a link to the post in a future email to you.
A Quick Tip
If you're having a rough time with focus/focusing it's probably something to do with the focusing modes and/or focusing areas that you've been using. And remember we focus with the compositional intent to make something at a specific distance the sharpest thing in our pictures.
